5 Ways to Stay on the Bandwagon


Speaking for myself, I know my goal of living a healthy life and making the right food choices is a difficult one. I find my motivation for exercising, in knowing how good I feel both mentally and physically when I exercise and how these feelings allow me to focus more, sleep better, and feel confident about my body. That being the case, even with these motivators, I still "fall off the wagon" sometimes, when the immediate motivator (maybe I'm depressed and the immediate need for comfort food is more important at that moment) overrides my longer-term motivators.



When this happens and I fall back into my old ways of eating junk food I begin to feel sluggish and I find myself not even wanting to exercise. That's when I stop and revisit these five actions to get back on track and on the motivational bandwagon:



1. Find my 'Why' - I have a talk with myself to remind me of why it is important for me to make the right food choices and exercise on a consistent basis. I remind myself of how good I feel when I make those choices.



2. Take Action - Once I have found my 'why', it is time to do something about it and take action. I start with food choices, I set myself up for success by writing out a meal plan for the week before I go to the grocery, and I only buy what is on my list avoiding temptation to buy junk food. Next, I make sure I have breakfast in the morning, and in the meantime I prepare my lunch and snacks, that way I am not tempted to buy lunch "on the go" which usually ends up being something unhealthy. I make a goal at the beginning of the week for how many times I want to exercise, if I exceed my goal then great!



3. Use Music - I like to load my iPod with upbeat music to motivate while I exercise which I find helps the time go by quicker and keeps me focused on finishing.



4. Surround yourself with people who have similar goals - I find that by surrounding myself with people who share a similar goal I am able to stay on track with my own goals. People who give you positive feedback and encouragement are just as important as a healthy diet. I love teaching my TRX Challenge Class because it gets me fired up when I see what an impact I have on others by coaching them in their workouts. I also like to exercise with a partner, whether going for a walk/run, or attending a class of some sorts, it is always more fun to exercise with someone else!



5. Use Quotes - I love to find inspirational quotes, especially since I am addicted to Pinterest these days, I love "pinning" inspirational/motivational quotes. And whenever I need a pick-me-up, I read these quotes to help motivate me to get back on track.



I will end with a quote I found the recently and have found it to help me visualize my health goals and find my way back on track "Create a life that feels good on the inside. Not one that just looks good on the outside"


3 Easy Proven Weight Loss Tips


The secret to losing weight fast is eating more healthy foods and exercising more. Therefore, a good balanced diet that is high in fiber, vegetables and fruits while avoiding high calorie foods. The idea here is to make sure that you are burning more calories than you take in, thus weight loss. For example, you do not need to enroll in a gym, but engaging in your hobbies like swimming, running with your dog, playing soccer, jogging e.t.c are simple enjoyable activities that keep your body fit while at the same time helping you burn the undesired calories.

How To Lose Weight in 2014


Many people talk about losing weight as the new year starts. So far it is one of the most common new year's resolution since time in memorial or since people started paying close attention to their body figure. The fact is only 5% people who made a new year's resolution to lose weight actually do it and only 3% were only successful. Somehow, this makes me think that maybe new year's resolutions are things that you don't want to do for that specific year because more often than not, people don't actually even try to accomplish these resolutions.



Now don't get me wrong. I've been observing some of my friends and the people around me who had a new year's resolution to lose weight but at the end of the year they even gained more. I had my share of new year's resolution in the past but not one of them is about losing weight but still I was able to accomplish them. I follow a strict guideline when it comes to doing new year's resolution that might help you especially if you want to lose weight this 2014.



1. It should be realistic and attainable



Always check if your resolution is indeed achievable or not. Don't make any new year's resolution which is totally impossible. A resolution is totally different to a dream. It requires action and is achievable within a given amount of time.



2. Make a time frame



Right after you decided what your new year resolution is, it is important that you create a timeline wherein you could evaluate whether you are actually achieving something or not. Like for example if you want to lose 150 pounds within that year. Then it would be wise to divide the entire year in four quarters and set goals per quarter. For example on March 2014, you should have already lost 20 pounds, then on June 2014, you should have already lost 60 pounds and so on. What this does is help you motivate yourself in doing all the things that you have to do in order to met you quota per quarter and at the same time provide an evaluation tool in order determine if what you're doing is actually helping you or not.



3. Create a list of things to do to attain it and turn them into habits

If you truly want to lose weight it is highly important that you try and make all of your weight loss actions into habits. That way you don't mind going to the gym 3 times a week simply because it grew into you and its something that you're already used to.



New Year's resolutions are fun but they're more fun if you actually do them. If you want to lose weight in 2014, then do everything you can to aid your weight loss right away!

There is a simple philosophy on weight loss that most people don't understand. You can get smooth, sexy legs without adopting a fitness model schedule. You don't have time to plan out six small meals a day or spend 3 hours at the gym every day. You can still lose that stubborn fat that piled up around your hips and thighs.



Here's what that philosophy boils down to. Your body stores toxins in fat cells. There are toxins in your body and it's constantly being pounded with more. They come from the food you eat, the air you breathe, they're even produced as a result of your body's natural functions and recovery processes.

Most of us produce more acidity and toxins than our bodies can handle. The same dietary problems that produce excess toxins also inhibit your body's ability to process those toxins out. The result is an unbalanced body with a bunch of toxins that it has to deal with.

Always check if your resolution is indeed achievable or not. Don't make any new year's resolution which is totally impossible. A resolution is totally different to a dream. It requires action and is achievable within a given amount of time.



2. Make a time frame



Right after you decided what your new year resolution is, it is important that you create a timeline wherein you could evaluate whether you are actually achieving something or not. Like for example if you want to lose 150 pounds within that year. Then it would be wise to divide the entire year in four quarters and set goals per quarter. For example on March 2014, you should have already lost 20 pounds, then on June 2014, you should have already lost 60 pounds and so on. What this does is help you motivate yourself in doing all the things that you have to do in order to met you quota per quarter and at the same time provide an evaluation tool in order determine if what you're doing is actually helping you or not.



3. Create a list of things to do to attain it and turn them into habits

Bake for 30-35 minutes until hollow and golden (occasionally take out and tap, if it sounds hollow then it’s ready, if it’s still soft and doesn't hollow when tap, place it back into the oven).



Once baked transfer onto a wire rack and use a clean tea towel to cover the loaf (this lets the loaf cool whilst still being crusty and soft). Or you can just leave to cool it.

Someone told me in one of my YouTube videos that I recorded late at night, that I sounded depressed and tired, not motivating for them. I had to giggle. I am far from depressed because I eliminate people from my life that bring only negativity. Despite from my life being far from perfect, I count my blessings. I am healthy, I have an amazing child who lights my heart eveyday, a family, a few great friends (a few great friends are better than a lot of bad ones), and I have a job to be able to give my child a decent living. I think any single parent who has to wake up at 5:30am, to sometimes exercise, get in the shower by 6am, get themselves ready and their child, feed them breakfast, work from 8am-5pm, then spend close to 2 hours sometimes with their child for HW, then cook, clean, get their child ready for bed by 8:30pm, read them a story, plus then find time to exercise, would be pretty tired by 9pm. I don't get paid for my posts on IG, not my videos in YouTube. I don't have to post anything, but if I can motivative and ispirire SOME people to live a healthier life, to help their families too and teach them all to be healthy, why not? We have an obesity problem in this country. And it breaks my heart to see obese kids, and obese families. Parents who wish they could run around with their children or do certain things they wish they could but they can't because they are overweight or have other health issues. By eating healthy and staying fit, you feel more alive and happier. You also look younger. My uncle was visiting from Canada, and he told me I look more like a teenager than a 30 year old woman. Yeah, because I made the choice to live an active life and eat clean. So, I may not motivate everyone, and that's okay, because I know I motivate some, and some is better than none....but truly, what really really matters, is how I feel, emotionally and physically, the life I give my child, and I am quite content with that! So if you don't find me motivating, it's all gravy baby, I hope someone else can, for the better of your health, and your families. And some may be inspired and motivated, but nothing will ever truly change until you get your arse off the couch, workout, and cook clean meals in the kitchen! Have a great Monday!

No estoy lo mínimo deprimida x q elimino la gente de mi vida que me trae negatividad. A pesar q vida no es perfecta, doy gracias x mis bendiciones. Estoy sana, tengo un hija maravillosa que enciende mi corazón todos los dias de mi vida, una familia, unas amistades estupendos (unos pocos buenos amigos son mejores que muchos malos), y tengo un trabajo para poder darle a mi hija un vida digna. Creo que cualquier padre o madre soltera que tiene que levantarse a las 5:30 am, para ejercer a veces, entrar en la ducha a las 6, preparas a si mismo para ir al trabajo, a los hijos para el colegio, darles de comer el desayuno, trabaja horario de 8-5 pm, pasar cerca de 2 horas a veces con sus hijos de tareas, despues cocinar, comer, limpiar, preparar a sus hijos para ir a la cama antes de las 8:30 pm, leer les un cuento, después todavía hacer tiempo para hacer ejercicio, estaría muy cansado al fin del día. No me pagan por subir mis posts en IG, ni por videos en YouTube. Yo no tengo pq publicar nada si no quiero. Pero si puedo motivar y ispirar a algunas personas a vivir una vida más sana, para ayudar a sus familias y también enseñar les a todos a ser sano, ¿por qué no? Tenemos un problema de obesidad en este país. Y me rompe el corazón ver a los niños obesos, y las familias obesas. Los padres que desean correr con sus hijos o hacer ciertas cosas que les gustaría pero no pueden porque tienen sobrepeso o de mala salud q no los dejan. Comer sano y mantenerse en forma, te ayuda a sentirte más vivo y más feliz. También aparentas más joven. Mi tío estaba de visita, y me dijo que me parezco más a una adolescente q de una mujer de 30 años de edad. Sí claro, porque he tomado la decisión de vivir una vida activa y comer limpio. Por lo tanto, no puede motivar a todo el mundo, y eso está bien, porque sé que puedo motivar a algunos, y algo es mejor que nada .... pero realmente, lo que verdaderamente importa, es lo que yo siento, emocionalmente y físicamente, la vida que le doy a mi hija, y estoy bastante contenta con eso! Así que si no me encuentran como motivan te, esta bien! Espero que alguien más pueda hacerlo, por el bien de su salud y sus familias. To make your own Irish soda bread recipe isn't just for special occasions like Saint Patrick’s day; so, you can easily make this recipe on any day you may like and you can make your own hand made recipe with your friends and family or make it as a special treat for yourself or your spouse but either way making this classical Irish man’s best friend couldn't be easier, you don't need to be a master chef to figure out how to make this one.



You don't have to follow this recipe step by step; you can use this recipe as inspiration and come up with your own invention. Either that or you could add different ingredients and flavors such as raisins, seeds or maybe even honey. Get creative and never be afraid to make this Irish recipe into your own.



This bread is always best served warm, straight from the oven just like any other bread recipes. You can also wash it down with your favorite beverage such as a nice hot steaming coffee, milk, fruit juice or maybe even a glass of Guinness just like how the Irish do it. it's also diet friendly as you can add all your favorite healthy snacks.



Ingredients:



8 ounces of plain white flour.

8 ounces of plain whole meal flour.

3.75 ounces of porridge oats.

1 tablespoon of bicarbonate soda.

1 tablespoon of salt.

1 ounce of non salted butter.

1 ½ pints of butter milk.



Instructions:



Preheat the oven gas mark 6, approximately 200 C.



Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper with a dust of flour and place in the preheated oven to warm the tray.



Combine the dry ingredients together in a large bowl and rub the butter into the dry mix.



Gently pour in the butter milk whilst stirring the mixture together.



Once you get a thick doughy consistency, bring the dough together with your fingertips (remember to need lightly and gently).



Once the dough is thicker and more pliable, shape it into a round loaf ball (20cm/8in in diameter).



Place the loaf onto the warmed baking try and traditionally score a cross into the loaf.



Bake for 30-35 minutes until hollow and golden (occasionally take out and tap, if it sounds hollow then it’s ready, if it’s still soft and doesn't hollow when tap, place it back into the oven).



Once baked transfer onto a wire rack and use a clean tea towel to cover the loaf (this lets the loaf cool whilst still being crusty and soft). Or you can just leave to cool it.



Serve broken into quarters or simply serve however suits you (Don’t forget the class of Guinness). Enjoy.
